Just a few months back, I wrote about ChatGPT and how it’s a game-changer for digital marketing. ChatGPT is such an incredible tool, but I still bump into people who haven’t quite integrated it into their marketing activities. Fortunately, I’m here to help you to apply this amazing productivity tool to your digital marketing.
Since my last blog post, OpenAI has rolled out GPT-4, the successor to GPT-3.5. GPT-4, which is currently available only on paid plans. I will be using GPT-4 in my prompts below because I do believe the responses a better and more unique. As we dig deeper and write content like ad copy, you will see why prompt crafting will help you obtain better responses from chatGPT.
Prompt 1: Write A High-Converting Facebook Ad
There is a copywriting formula called AIDA, which is Attention, Interest, Desire and Action. My agency has been very successful applying this formula for our ad copy to create high-converting Facebook Ads.
It’s very simple, you break your copy down into 4 components.
Attention
First things first, you’ve gotta grab your audience’s attention. Make your headline or opening line so irresistible that they just can’t help but read on. Get creative, be bold, and make them want to know more!
Interest
Now that you’ve got their attention, it’s time to pique their interest. Share some fascinating details or unique features about your product or service. Keep it relevant and make them think, “Hey, this might be just what I’ve been looking for!”
Desire
You’ve got their attention and interest, now let’s turn up the heat and make them want what you’re offering. Show them how your product or service can make their lives better, solve a problem, or fulfil a need. Paint a picture that’s too good to resist.
Action
Lastly, let’s turn this scroller into a clicker. Give your readers a clear call-to-action (CTA) so they know exactly what to do next. Make it easy for them to take the plunge – whether that’s signing up for a newsletter, buying a product, or contacting you for more information.
Here is the prompt:
Act as a copywriter, and write me a Facebook Ad for a Podiatry clinic in Penrith that specialises in heel pain. Use the AIDA copywriting formula. We want to empower audiences to get on top of heel pain. Use Australian Spelling.
Prompt 2: Write Title and Meta Descriptions to Improve Your On-page SEO
Setting titles and meta descriptions is a laborious task that my digital marketing agency deals with on a day-to-day basis. However, its importance can’t be understated because the rewards are significant. I see so many Penrith businesses with titles like “Home | Business Name”. This is not going to influence visitors into clicking on your search results nor does it give any context to Google.
Before executing this task, you might want to check with your SEO Agency to make sure you don’t have an agreement in place – you might be undoing existing work. You also might want to check that you have the right keywords so you don’t harm any existing traffic.
Here is the prompt:
Act as an SEO specialist, write me a title that is a maximum of sixty characters in length and a meta description that is a maximum of one hundred fifty-five characters long for a [keyword] that I will provide. Use Australian spelling and please also provide the exact character count for both.
Note, that chatGPT is kind of bad at processing character lengths as numbers, so we’re using the word “fifty-five” as opposed to 55.
Prompt 3: Write A List of FAQs from Your Content
You have seen the “People also ask” section In Google search results. Your content can be specially marked up to help provide context to your potential customers. I’m not going to go into specifically marking up your content but I’m going to show you how you can create shortform answers from already written content to help improve your content or outline important and commonly asked questions from your customers.
Here is the prompt:
Write me a list of five questions and answers in short form from the content that I will provide.
** paste in your service page text **
If you want to try and appear in the “People also ask” section in search results, follow up: “Write this as FAQ structured data”. ChatGPT will provide you with a JSON object that can be used in a script tag and pasted into the source of your page. You can check your results via Google Rich Result Test.
Prompt 4: Get ChatGPT to Prompt You
I’m going to help change the game for you. In this prompt, we’re going to get chatGPT to prompt us! In my example, I will pick something basic like creating a social media content calendar. Let’s start this task by asking chatGPT to execute a task.
Here is the prompt:
Give me ideas for a Social Media Content Calendar for a local print business in Penrith. Start by asking me a series of questions that will make this content effective and engaging.
Answer as a numerical list.
Eg: 1. Brand Awareness, 2. Businesses in Penrith….
Prompt 5: Improve Your Email Open Rates
A well-crafted subject line can make or break a successful email marketing campaign. A good open rate should sit anywhere between 20 to 28%. Before you send your next campaign, take a few moments to experiment with some headlines. We also recommend combing a great headline with the right day of the week and the right time of the day. Most (ESP) Email Service Providers can also help you A/B Split test headlines for larger audience lists.
Here is the prompt:
Suggest ten short eye-catching email subject lines that create a sense of urgency or scarcity to encourage open rates for a mortgage broker located in Penrith.
BONUS: Just “Continue”
Do you have a long-form answer that stops dead? Just type “continue” and watch the magic continue.
Continue
That’s it! ChatGPT-4’s potential is boundless, limited only by our ability to craft thought-provoking and insightful prompts. Remember, the strength of your results is dependent on what you put into it. So, go ahead, experiment, do some testing, and use ChatGPT to power your digital marketing.
