Business Advice: keeping your business prominent in the holiday season

Article by Emma Gosper, Digital Business Advsior, Western Sydney Business Centre

keeping your business prominent in the holiday season

With less than a month until Christmas, some businesses are preparing to wind down for the year, and some (primarily online based businesses) are in their busiest period.

More consumers are turning to Christmas gift shopping online, so if you have an online store, take advantage of this and utilise the holiday season to increase your online presence.

Ads

Now is the time to increase your social & online advertising to drive more traffic to your site and potentially increase sales. Use Ad Retargeting, test new audiences and utilise social media shopping features.

Holiday Offers

Boost your sales by introducing special offers valid only during specific times, offer percentage or dollar amount discounts for minimum spends, or a special offer for their next online order.

Even if your business is winding down, online activity increases. People have more spare time and spend a decent amount of it browsing their feeds & shopping online. This is the time when you want to actively post fresh content and engage with your followers, as it presents a higher chance of them seeing it and interacting.

Get into the Holiday Spirit

Add Christmas themed elements to your platforms like a Santa hat on your logo or a simple Christmas themed cover photo.

If you’re having a break

Ensure you post your business closure dates on your socials and website and change your automatic replies on Facebook messages and emails. Even if you’re offline, your fans will continue to engage with you and contact you. Don’t leave them with no response until you return to normal trading.

Schedule your Facebook Posts

If you know you are going to be away from your socials, schedule content to automatically post so you can spend more time with your loved ones and less time online. Make sure you include a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year message to your customers and followers.

Make a list, check it twice

Use your downtime wisely to create a content & online marketing strategy for 2019.
